Description

Dianthus 'Carpet Mixed F1' is an easy to grow and early flowering traditional cottage garden plant. The showy clusters of fragrant flowers grow in shades of lavender, purple, rose and red, often with an attractive contrasting eye. They are a wonderful plant to grow in containers and for edging borders.

Dianthus 'Carpet Mixed F1' attracts bees and butterflies and is included on the RHS Perfect for Pollinators list.

When to sow Sow indoors February to April.
Where to sow Sow on the surface of moist compost filled pots or trays and cover the seeds with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm position (temperature of  18-21°C (65-70°F) is ideal).
What to do next When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays and grow on in cooler conditions.
After all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Then transplant into final flowering position planting them 25cm (10in) apart. 
Water well until plants are established. 
  Deadhead to prolong flowering and encourage new flower buds. 
Flowering period May to August.
Uses Terrific in containers or for edging borders.
