When to Sow October to February
Where to Sow

Sow indoors on the surface of moist compost filled pots or trays and cover the seeds with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm position (temperature of 18-22°C for 2 to 4 weeks) followed by 2-4°C  for 4 to 6 weeks and then return to the warmth.

Germination requires a warm/cold/warm cycle which mimics conditions in nature and can take several months.

We find that sowing late autumn/ early winter in a greenhouse provides the best conditions for germination.

What to do next When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays and grow on in cooler conditions.
When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise indoor raised seedlings to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Then transplant into final growing position planting them 45cm (18in) apart.
Water well until plants are established.
  Deadhead to encourage further flowering.
Flowering period May to September
Companion Planting Extremely attractive to bees and other pollinating insects
Uses Borders and cut flowers
Height 60cm (24in).
Spread 45cm (18in)
