Description
Scabiosa Atropurpurea 'Lavender' is a long flowering Scabiosa, great for the back of a border and also makes a good cut flower. The flowers are a beautiful lavender colour with contrasting white stigmas. Flowers grow to around 90cm.
Great for adding height to beds and borders and bees and butterflies will love them too.
When to sow | Sow indoors Jan to April and August to September. |
Where to sow | Sow indoors in moist compost filled pots or trays 0.5cm (1/4in) deep and cover the seeds with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm position (temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F) is ideal). |
What to do next | When seedlings are large enough to handle and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Then transplant into final growing position planting them 30cm (12in) apart. |
