When to sow February to May (February to March inside and April to May outside)
Where to Sow Sunflowers need full sun (6-8 hours of direct sunlight per day - the more the better if you are trying to grow them to their maximum potential) and are best sown direct where they are to flower.
For earlier blooms sow indoors in pots, 1.5cm (3/4in) deep  and keep at 13 to 18°C (55 to 65°F) until after germination.
Sow outdoors direct, either in pots or in a flower bed, 1.5cm (3/4in) deep and 30cm (12in) apart.
