Description
The Lupin Russell hybrids were bred for their long flowering period and strong and bright colours, 'The Pages ' is no exception with its magnificent vertical stems of carmine red blooms. This wonderful cottage garden favourite is ideal for adding height and structure to the back of perennial borders or as a feature in a large patio container.
Easy to grow and undemanding they put on quite a show with the minimum of fuss as long as they have enough moisture when actively growing.
When to sow | February to June, or September to October. |
Where to Sow | Soak seed overnight before sowing. |
Sow indoors on the surface of moist compost filled pots or trays and cover the seeds with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place in a warm position (temperature of 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F) is ideal). To maintain this temperature you may require a propogator or place the tray inside a sealed polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 18 to 21 days. | |
What to do Next | When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays and grow on in cooler conditions. |
When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise indoor raised seedlings to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Then transplant into final growing position planting them 45cm (18in) apart. | |

Deadhead to encourage further flowering. Flower stems may require staking if in exposed area. | |
